Growing up in Panama, my mother’s table was always beautifully set. Crisp linens, elegant place settings, fresh flowers. Hosting looked effortless. What I did not see were the hours behind it. When I started hosting on my own, reality hit. I wanted the same warm gatherings I grew up with, but between work and life, the thought of ironing tablecloths and figuring out what matched made me want to skip entertaining altogether.

Some nights I reached for disposable plates. They felt cheap and wasteful. Other times I hosted properly, only to spend my entire Sunday doing laundry after a Friday dinner. There had to be a better way.

I started looking for placemats that felt elevated but worked for real life. Pieces that looked sophisticated without the upkeep. Something you could simply wipe down and put away. I could not find them. So I created them.
